Südafrika, ein Land in dem unterschiedlichste Kulturen aufeinander treffen und das nach langen Jahren der Apartheid einen neuen kulturellen Weg versucht, war Ausgangspunkt dieses Projektes.

Wenn Kultur, nach Bolten (1997), als Orientierungssystem „den kommunikativen Handlungszusammenhang einer bestimmten Lebenswelt auf der Grundlage bestimmter tradierter Wissensvorräte bezeichnet“, kann Interkulturalität per Definition nur das „Dazwischen“, die Beziehung von in dieser Weise unterschiedenen Lebenswelten, bezeichnen. Dabei unterscheidet Bolten zwischen dem Synergiemodell und dem Synthesemodell der interkulturellen Kommunikation. Beim Synthesemodell handelt es sich um „das Zusammenfügen zweier Größen (These/Antithese) zu einer dritten (Synthese) und zweier Zusammengefügten weiter zu einer neuen dritten“ usw., wobei eine normative Theorie, die unabhängig vom kulturellen Umfeld einsetzbar sei, geschaffen werden könnte. Mit der Synergie wird „das kontinuierliche Erzeugen eines Handlungszusammenhangs, in dem gleichsam die Energiepotenziale der fremdkulturellen Kommunikationspartner zusammenfließen“ (Bolten, 1997), bezeichnet. Aufgrund der beiden Modelle, Synthese und Synergie, bildet sich die Theorie der transkulturellen Kommunikation, die sich als Spezialfall interkultureller Kommunikation darstellt. Bei der transkulturellen Kommunikation handelt es sich um die Kommunikation, die dadurch entstehen kann, Kulturen und Menschen zu integrieren und sie in komplementäre Teile eines integralen Ganzen zu transformieren.

Als Grundlage der auditativen Ebene dieser Live-Performance dienten Audio-Sampels welche das Spektrum der kulturellen Vielschichtigkeit Johannesburgs abbildeten. Gemeinsam mit Studenten der Cityvarsity Johannesburg und der University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg wurden diese Sampels im Rahmen eines Lehrgangs erarbeitet und durch realtime-audioprocessing von M18J92T in die live-performance eingespeist.

According to Bolten (1997) culture is an orientation system: “Communicative actions refer to a particular world based on a particular knowledge of traditional assets.” Then Interculturalism, by definition can only describe the relationship “between” distinct worlds.
Thereby Bolten distinguishes between the synergy model and the synthesis model of intercultural communication. In the synthesis model "the joining of two sizes (thesis / antithesis) to a third (synthesis) and two joined onto a new third etc.”, a normative theory could be created that can be used in every cultural environment. The synergy is referred to as "generating a correlation of continuous action and at the same time merge the energy potential of a foreign cultural communication partner." (Bolten, 1997). The two models, synthesis and synergy, formed the theory of cross-cultural communication, which presents itself as a special case of intercultural communication.
If cross-cultural communication deals with communication, then it can be performed by cultures and people integrating and transforming it into complementary parts of an integrated whole.
The bases of this live performance were audio- samples, which reflect the spectrum of cultural diversity in Johannesburg.
The sound was developed together with students of South Africa, a country where different cultures come together and try to find a new cultural path after years of apartheid. This cultural and social struggle was the starting points of this project.

“If culture”, according to Bolton (1997), "refers to the act of communication of a particular world then it is based on resources of certain traditional knowledge, “ as an orientation system, interculturalism is by definition only “the midway” to describe the relationship between distinct worlds.

In cross-cultural communication is communication a part of an integral whole, which may be incurred by cultures and people,
integrating and transforming it into complementary parts.

The bases of sound in this live performance were audio Sampels that reflects the range of cultural diversity in Johannesburg.
Together with students of Cityvarsity Johannesburg and the University of Witwatersrand,
Johannesburg this Sampels of real-time audio processing of M18J92T were engaged into a live performance and developed as part of a training course.
