1. A sitting on eggs for the purpose of hatching young; a
brooding on, or keeping warm, (eggs) to develop the life
within, by any process. --Ray.

2. (Med.) The development of a disease from its causes, or
its period of incubation. (See below.)

3. A sleeping in a consecrated place for the purpose of
dreaming oracular dreams. --Tylor.

period which elapses between exposure to the causes of a
disease and the attack resulting from it; the time of
development of the supposed germs or spores.



inkubation ist “brüten”: a brooding on. es ist die entwicklung einer krankheit von ihrem auslöser zum ausbruch. wenn die kunst geboren wurde muss eine geburt stattgefunden haben. oder war der prozess der entwicklung der kunst bis heute ein einziges “ausbrüten”? to develop the life within, by any process. nur wenn das produkt der
kunst lebendig ist, kann es als solche erfasst werden. sleeping in a consecrated place for the purpose of dreaming oracular dreams.
wie orakelhaft sind ihre/unsere träume? welche zukunft gebären wir hier? the development of a disease. ist das, was wir als kunst verstehen nichts als eine krankheit. einige indizien sprechen dafür.

die videoinstallation “inkubation” besteht aus lehrfilmen und sonstigem bildmaterial, welches sich mit geburt/-en beschäftigt. der vorgang des inkubierens, des brütens, findet in dieser seine vollendung. das auslösen der geburt wird jedoch dem besucher überlassen (und darüber hinaus muss er nicht vor ort sein). eine gebärmaschine tritt an
die stelle der geordneten zeitfolge. 9 monate kulminieren in tausend gleichen momenten.
abfolgen erzeugen erst zeit.


die gebärmaschine gehorcht auf folgende kommandos (scrambled bits):
